2. Annual Background Check
3. Volunteer Training
Each adult who has personal contact with an exchange student must be trained. These mandatory trainings can be completed online as described below. While they can be completed at any time of the year, we suggest that the month of July is the best time to refresh your knowledge and prepare for the August inbound student arrivals. The Youth Protection Officer will be tracking who has completed the trainings. The January Department of State audits require this.
4. State Department Training
Department of State online training will be automatically sent to all District Committee Members once a year. Prepare for this test by reviewing the Department of State Regulations.
5. Online District Training
a. NAYEN Youth Protection Training (YPA): All individuals who have personal contact with an inbound or outbound exchange students must take an online training session and exam to help them recogize and deal with acceptable and unacceptable behaviors and signs of abuse and harassment. Even if your only contact is as a District Interviewer or aide at an Orientation, you must take this training. The online test will be completed and the results reported on the YEAH Youth Exchange Hub. Note* The training module and exam will be automatically set to your email address once you have filed your Volunteer Application.
b. WESSEX Youth Protection Certificate (YPC): Volunteers who have only sporadic or one-time contact with exchange student are not required to take this training. Note* The training module and exam will be automatically set to your email address once you have filed your Volunteer Application.
The Compliance Officer and the District Chair will need to know the emails of all Rotarians and volunteers who contact with any exchange student in order to send them the links for all required trainings. If you do not receive one of the above training modules, please send your preferred contact information and email to chair@mtnandplainsRYE.com.
